A new nostalgic series reveals the history and inside stories of Ireland’s landmark hotels, using personal reminiscences, stories are brought to light with fascinating nuggets of history and heart. Using a mixture of interview, narration, and archive, this series reveals the extraordinary stories behind some of Ireland’s most significant hotels and the impact these top brand hostelries have had on their local communities.

In Episode 2, we visit Dublin’s Wynn’s Hotel, the Shelbourne Hotel and the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire,

Episode 3 visits Mulranny Park Hotel in Co. Mayo, the creation of one of Ireland’s oldest golf courses at the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran and how a Galway hotel became a home from home to the Aran Islanders.

In this episode  4 we feature Co. Kerry’s former railway hotels, the Huggard family who were pioneers of the hospitality industry and the O’Donoghues, whose hotel became one of the area’s biggest entertainment venues.

Episode 5 takes us on a trip down the East Coast – we hear stories of the Woodenbridge Hotel and panning for gold in the Wicklow mountains, of feasts served up in the Granville Hotel in Waterford for young soldiers before they went to war, and the personal family story of how Kelly’s Resort Hotel in Rosslare started off as a tea room.

In Episode 6 we are in Co. Donegal to hear of how Óstán Loch Altan hosted some of the first Irish language students to Gort an Choirce, about Prince Napoleon’s visit to Kee’s Hotel in Stranorlar, and how landlord George Hill built An Chúirt Hotel in Gaoth Dobhair in the 1830s.
